Masum since its inception is struggling for protection of rights of the citizen of India with vision to create a society free from human rights violation and all forms of discrimination by humanizing the society through the participation of pluralist society and ideas. During its journey Masum conducted fact findings over incidents of different forms of Human Rights violation like extra judicial Killing, torture, custodial death, eviction etc.

It has been observed that most of the victims are come from socially and economically marginalized section of our country. It is our realization and evident by our experiences that the torture is taking place in rampant with societal acceptance, even if by the victims, for it. Most of the time the sufferers, after losing almost everything due to torture, think that these are their destiny. Sometime they get scared to open up their mouth against the atrocities, they cannot do anything because of their poor financial condition.

Keeping the above features in mind Masum is going to start a joint program with assistance of “United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture (UNVFVT)”, to provide Medical, Psychological and Legal support to the torture victims. This year MASUM commemorated 26th June; International Anti- Torture Day by inaugurating its new office along with short stay having medical, psychological facilities for torture survivors and further scope to social mainstreaming of torture victims and their families.
