| Police personal forced a minor to involve into smuggling | ||||

We got information that Mr. Niranjan Sarkar, Assistant Sub Inspector; Raninagar Police Station had been pressurizing Sariful Seikh, since long to bring illegally few foreign articles of his choice from Bangladesh. On 02/01/2010 around 5 pm Mr. Sarkar along with three local smugglers (involved with cross border transportation) namely Mr. Khalek Seikh, son of Mr. Manik Seikh; Mr. Naushad Ali, son of Late Muktar Ali; Mr. Halim Seikh, son of Mr. Ajij Seikh came at village Katlamari, Ramgarhpara under Raninagar police station and subsequently made command to Sariful Seikh to illegally bring few articles like garments and fish of a particular variety from Bangladesh. They also made assurance that they will manage the posted BSF personnel in this course of illegal smuggling. Subsequently, Sariful gave his consent to do the job under tremendous pressure from the said police. On 03/01/2010 around 7 am Sariful submitted his identity card; issued by local panchayat (village level administration) to the posted BSF constable at Out-post no 1 of ‘E’ company; 191 Battalion and was bringing the smuggled garments and fish for Mr. Niranjan Sarkar according to his illegal whims by riding a bi-cycle. But he was apprehended by Mr. Mukesh; a DIB personnel of mobile sector of Kaharpara Border Out-post of BSF, Company Head Quarter and Mr. Meena; Inspector of ‘G’ Company of Battalion no. 191. Mr. Meena slapped at his cheek and Sariful was taken to Kaharpara Border Out-post Company Head Quarter of BSF by them. He was unclothed and then battered with the sticks at the said place. Due to the inhumane torture his knees and arms were profoundly injured and caused bleeding. He was also given electric shock at his genitals. The victim boy lamented hoarse out of pain and agony. Then his mouth was tied and again he was beaten brutally. He was detained there for nearly 7 hours without any medical assistance and was sent to Katlamari customs office thereafter. Finally, around 8 pm the Superintendent of Customs released him after taking Rs.1800 as bribe from Mr. Naushad Ali son of Late Muktar Ali; cousin brother of Sariful. On the very night he was admitted to Godhanpara primary health centre and next day on 14/01/2010 he was released from there without any discharge certificate.
On 11/01/2010 he sent a written complaint to the Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad. As a result on 16/02/2010 at around 9.45 pm Mr. Maskur Rahaman; The Officer in Charge of Raninagar police station , along with 4-5 other policemen without any female police personal raided victim’s house. The victim boy got afraid and fled away from his house. Raiding party from Raninagar police station asked the family members to bring Sariful at the police station next morning and to withdraw his complaint against Mr. Niranjan Sarkar. The victim family informed everything to our volunteer. On 17/02/2010 around 2.45 pm our volunteer tried to talk with the Superintendent of Police; Murshidabad over the telephone. But he was out of his office at that time. At around 2.50 pm our volunteer tried to talk with the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP); Murshidabad over telephone. One Mr. Chittaranjan Karforma; who attended the phone call at the office of Additional Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad told that he would convey the matter to the ASP. But till now no recourse has been taken. |
