Report of the Medical Camp at Jalangi, Murshidabad on 13th August 2010 On 13th August 2010 MASUM organized a medical camp for the torture victims at Jalagi in Murshidabad. The program was held at ‘Padma Bhaban’ at the bank or river Padma, around 2 kilometers inside the actual Indian territory. A team from MASUM office comprising Mr. Shantipada Mallick; Senior Medical Practitioner and Mr. Mohit Ranadip; Psychological Counsellor, Mr. Kirity Roy; Secretary of MASUM, along with Mr. Sabitabrata Ghosh and Mr. Dipyaman Adhikary, both are the volunteers of MASUM, went to the venue one day before of the program. Twenty persons, including torture victims and their family members who were suffering from physical problems and/or psychological trauma got medical and psychological treatment at the camp. Finally, the patients were provided by medicines as prescribed by the medical practitioner. Mr. Malay Sengupta; former Chief Justice of Sikim High Court, glorified our program by his presence. He distributed medicines to the patients. Mr. Kirity Roy discussed with the villagers (torture victims) about the sustainability of the initiative. He assured the victims and their relatives that MASUM would be always with them and providing legal, social, medical and psychological assistance will continue.
