This is another incident of an awful
incident of physical assault and verbal abuses perpetrated
by the posted Border Security Force personal. The havoc
created by the BSF personnel on the socio- economic
marginalized sections is going without check. The local
police conniving with the reckless BSF personnel are
engaged to shield the perpetrators.
In this juncture we can only pose our faith
on the human rights
institutions but here again our past
experience is not encouraging one.
In this incident the victim; Mr. Harish
Chandra Gain, son of Mr. Kanai Lal Gain, aged about 46
years, resident of village- Ramchaki, post office -
Gopalpur, under Haroa Police Station of 24 Parganas
(North) was physically assaulted and verbally abused
without any reasons by a BSF personal having a bad repute
and at that time was intoxicated. The whole incident was
an example how brute the BSF personnel are and what extent
of sufferings the populace is experiencing.
While the victim went to Basirhat police
station to lodge his complaint police not made any heed to
his grievances, just confirming the reality that the local
police and BSF are connived to subjugate the people of
Indo – Bangladesh bordering districts of West Bengal.
Though, after much persuasion a General
Dairy Entry has been lodged at Basirhat Police Station but
after a long wait with patience, we found no positive and
requisite steps under the law has been taken yet.
