Poor farmer was physically assaulted by drunk BSF personal: -
On 31st May 2010, at 12.30
PM, Hannan with his brother in law Mr. Masidul Mondal, son of Mr. Mannan
Mondal and two neighbors named Mr. Banamali Mondal, son of Mr. Krishna
Mondal and Mr. Aharuddin Biswas, son of late Sabed Biswas went to Godagari
Diyar Mouza to cut down their crops. While they were returning back by
buffalo cart with full of crops, Hannan and his companion shoved their
buffaloes for a bath in a wetland which was situated near to their farming
land. In the mean time, one drunken BSF constable from Outpost Number 1,
Battalion Number 92 stopped him and hurt Hannan with his rifle butt because
he did not entry his name, the buffaloes and cart. When Hannan tried to
resist the said BSF constable, few of BSF personnel from Outpost number 2
and 3 came to that place and assist their companion to beat Mr. Hannan
Mondal. At that time the companions of Mr. Hannan Mondal ran away from that
place. The BSF Constables beat him with bamboo sticks and their rifle butts.
Due to the inhuman torture, he was fallen down and became unconscious. BSF
Constables put water on his face and he got back his consciousness. After
that BSF constables tied Hannan’s hands with rope and left that place.
Hannan putting his all efforts stood up on his feet and reached adjacent
jute field where his companions were hiding. His companions loosen the tie
and enable him to reach his home. The BSF constables seized his 2 buffaloes
without issuing any seizure list and / or taking signatures and sent it to
the Customs office at Jalangi.
Due to degradation of his health, Hannan Mondal went local government
hospital where the attending doctor examining him then and there admitted
him in the Sadikhar Deyar Hospital in Murshidabad. He was treated as indoor
patient for treatment on that hospital from 31st May 2010 to 3rd June 2010.
On 31st May 2010 the brother in law of Mr. Hannan went to the Jalangi police
station and lodged a written complain against involved BSF constables and it
was only registered as an information vide Jalangi PS General Dairy Entry
Number 2090/10 dated 31st May 2010.
Our Fact Finding Team reached at the place of incident and met few eye
witnesses; Mr. Abdul Majid Shah , Mr. Ismail Hossain Mollah from Dayarampur
village and Mr. Banamali Mondal, Mr. Aharuddin Biswas from the village
Godagari on 25th July 2010 and gathered information. On 26th July 2010 Fact
Finding team met with Mr. Salam Mondal son of Mr. Hannan Mondal. According
to him, the Police personnel from Jalangi Police Station on 31st May 2010
came to the place of incident and left the place hurriedly after hearing 2/3
people statement. But Salam did not know that whether any case was started
against those BSF personnel or not. Then the fact finding team met with
Hannan Mondal and came to know that he got back his pair of buffaloes after
bribing Rs.1400 to the office of the Superintendent of Customs, Jalangi
Unit.
On 26th July at 4.17 pm our Fact Finding team met with the Assistant Sub
Inspector of Jalangi Police Station Mr. Sujit Singh for getting information
about the progress of Hannan Mondal’s complaint but he denies impart any
information regarding the same.
