Working with the United Nations

Special Procedures System to fight torture and other forms of ill-treatment by acting on their economic, social and cultural root causes

    Mr. Kirity Roy, Secretary, Banglar Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM) attended The World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) organised seminar on the “UN Special Procedures” for the year 2009 that took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 29 June to 3 July at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies of the University of Geneva.

During his visit he met with Professor Alfred Nowak, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Ms. Asma Jahangir, Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion and Believe and Ms. Yakin Erturk; then Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and other UN officials as well as representatives of different HR groups

 The organisations; MASUM and OMCT have collaborating relation on SOS- Torture network.
