We have conducted fact finding upon information received that on 3.9.2009 victim Mr. Anwar Gain from District-North 24 Parganas was forcibly taken away from his house by the perpetrator BSF personnel and subjected him to  severe physical as well as mental torture in custody. Reportedly the perpetrator BSF personnel extorted a hefty amount from the victim’s family on condition of his release. The victim and his family are still under threat from BSF.  

Though local Gaighata Police Station registered a criminal case against the accused BSF personnel in pursuance to a complaint lodged by the victim in court but the police are not showing any interest in taking any action against the accused. Our attached fact finding report gives details of this incident.  

We condemn the alleged offences committed by the concerned Border Security Force personnel. The innocent villagers residing near Indo-Bangladesh border often face forcible abduction and severe torture in the hands of BSF without any reason. The right to life of the victim has been grossly violated by the perpetrator BSF personnel.
